Life Cycle of the Monarch Butterfly

Garden at Carversville General Store
Saturday, August 21st, 2010 - 10:00 - 11:30 am

View live caterpillars – possible butterfly release (weather dependent)*.
We will start in the garden, then go for a walk in the field to identify two kinds of milkweed; look for caterpillars and butterflies; identity nectar plants and finish with an arts and craft activity.

Children accompanied by an adult required
$8.00 - adult includes one child (age 4 or older)  $3.00 - each additional child
Children ages 1 – 3 Free
Pre-registration required.  Ask for the Sign-up sheet at register.

Rain Date: Saturday August 28th., 2010 - Same time

Please dress for walking in the field, sneakers or boots, hat if sunny.
Bring water to drink. Binoculars are handy.

* A butterfly fly will not fly before its time. If I have butterflies whose wings are dry and its is warm and sunny, we will release.

Come support this community initiative to foster our childrens’ connection with nature.  There will be stations set up featuring a nature walk and scavenger hunt;  a raffle;  exhibits by AARK, Bucks County Birders, Master Gardeners and much more;  including Monarch Journey.  Get milkweed seeds and plant lists.  Spend the day in the park with your family and friends.
